Today’s a huge day

Thursday, September 30th, 2010 by Senator Patty Murray

Today’s a huge day for our campaign.100k-email-callout-eoq

It’s September 30, the last day of the last full fundraising quarter before the election — and one of the last opportunities for the political press and pundits to gauge our strength before the people of Washington state cast their votes.

We’ve set a $100,000 grassroots fundraising goal to help us finish the quarter strong — but we need your support to reach it before midnight tonight.

Can you help?

Please contribute $5 now — and help us reach our $100,000 grassroots goal before tonight’s midnight reporting deadline!

Filing a strong September 30 fundraising report will be a powerful sign of our grassroots momentum, which I’ve also seen first-hand out on the campaign trail while traveling across Washington state. And it will be a real benchmark for the press and pundits when sizing our campaign up against Dino Rossi’s.

But it’s not just about sending a signal — it’s also equipping us with the resources we need to fight back about Dino Rossi and our right-wing opponents’ incessant attacks.

In fact, Karl Rove’s shadowy front group, Crossroads GPS, just dumped more than $500,000 onto Washington state’s airwaves to run TV attack ads against me.

We need to make sure we have enough resources to get our message out in the face of these ongoing attacks and distortions — and that’s why I’m turning to you.

Please contribute $5 now — and help us reach our $100,000 grassroots goal before tonight’s midnight reporting deadline!

The stakes are high, our opponents are escalating their attacks, the press and pundits are watching us closely — and we need to respond.

Thanks so much for your help.

Sincerely,

Patty Murray

Patty Raises Time in Olympia

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 by Doug Foote, New Media Director

IMG00042-20100925-1319Senator Patty Murray was at the Olympia Center this Saturday to help build a volunteer base to help with the push towards November.

Among the issues discussed were Patty’s contribution to put a stop to the Boeing tanker contract that would have left many Washingtonians jobless, her efforts to continue the upswing of benefits for veterans, and loan assistance for small business.

Senator Murray gained a wealth of support from new volunteers as people from around the South Puget Sound rallied to sign up and contribute to the campaign, According to The Olympian.

“William LaVigne was one of the first to reach for a pen and sign up to volunteer after Murray finished talking. Asked what makes Murray appeal to him, he said she has good ideas and works to get them put into action – ideas such as securing additional clinics for military veterans and help to deal with combat-related brain injuries.”

Repeat volunteers showed up too, reports The Olympian.

“Pearl Edwards of Tumwater, who retired from managing a medical office, credited Murray with work for military veterans, halting the tanker contract that was not going to Boeing, and helping pass health insurance reform. ‘I’ve been down there twice (to the campaign) to make phone calls, and I signed up to make more,’ Edwards said.”

Patty is doing two more volunteer recruitment events this weekend in Bellevue on Saturday and in Everett on Sunday.

New myPatty video: Patty “Walks the Walk” on vets issues

Monday, September 27th, 2010 by Doug Foote, New Media Director
When it comes to our veterans, Patty Murray not only “talks the talk”, but “walks the walk” as well.

Veterans are finding it easier to receive an education through the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill that Senator Murray championed through the Senate.

Dave from Renton, a Marine who served in the Iraq War felt her impact when he returned home to a difficult job market. Through the new G.I. Bill, he was able to receive a great education and re-enter the job market with a new confidence and outlook.

Through his research of Murray-backed legislation, Dave found that Patty has been working throughout her career to help veterans like himself in more ways than he could imagine.

“I know, right now, if [the Senate] is in session… Murray’s at her desk with the phone in her hand,” he said.

From Maria Cantwell: Stand up for Patty

Sunday, September 26th, 2010 by Maria Cantwell

100k-email-callout-eoqI can’t imagine a better partner in the U.S. Senate than Patty Murray.

Together, Patty and I work every day to put the hard-working people of Washington state first — fighting for jobs, for small businesses, for our families, and for our future.

It’s so important that we re-elect Patty Murray — and to do that, we need to give her campaign a boost of support before the crucial September 30 end-of-quarter deadline.

Will you join me and stand up for Patty?

Please contribute to Patty’s campaign today — and let’s help her reach her $100,000 grassroots fundraising goal before the September 30 deadline!

Patty’s opponent, Dino Rossi, is the wrong choice for Washington state.

His right-wing agenda would return us to the failed policies of the Bush Administration, policies that took our country to the brink of an economic meltdown.

Dino was the first Senate candidate in the country to call for a repeal of the Wall Street reform bill. He opposed our efforts to pass the Small Business Jobs bill to help our small businesses expand and thrive.

And Dino even opposes our plans to extend tax cuts to middle-class families — 97% of Americans — unless we hand the wealthiest Americans a massive tax windfall too.

There’s no question that we need to keep Patty Murray in the Senate. But it’s up to you and me to help make that happen.

The September 30 fundraising deadline is less than a week away. It’s one of the last chances before Election Day for the press and pundits to gauge the strength of Patty’s campaign and compare it to Dino Rossi’s.

We need to make sure that Patty Murray comes out on top — on September 30 and on Election Day.

That’s why we need to make sure she reaches her $100,000 grassroots fundraising goal before the end-of-quarter deadline.

Please contribute now!

Thanks so much for joining me in supporting my friend, my colleague, and our senator, Patty Murray.

Sincerely,

Maria Cantwell

U.S. Senator

Patty’s fight for small businesses

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 by Doug Foote, New Media Director

We did it! The House of Representatives just passed the Small Business Lending Fund legislation that Patty fought so hard for in the Senate.

Small businesses are key to getting our economy back on track, and this legislation will make it easier for entrepreneurs to get the loans they need to make their dreams a reality.

It’s a personal issue for Senator Murray. Her father ran a five and ten in Bothell, and she knows firsthand the struggles of running a business, managing expenses, and supporting a family.

Because of her experiences, Patty was extremely grateful that a group of small business owners were able to take the time out of their day to talk about the new legislation last Friday. Watch:

Peter Aaron of Seattle’s famous Elliott Bay Books said that increased access to loans would allow him to hire new help for the holiday season.

Tutta Bella Pizzeria owner Joe Fugere talked about a stack of potential real estate sites for new restaurants on his desk that he’d been putting off. “I feel I can start looking at [them] now that this money will be available,” he said, “and each new restaurant creates anywhere from 50 to 70 jobs.”

Alton MacDonald, who owns a small grocery in Tacoma, expressed his relief. “We were hurting, and now because of this bill…we can add employees to our company,” he told us.

Makini Howell, owner of Capitol Hill’s Plum Bistro, added simply “Patty Murray listened to us.”

Makini continued: “We work hard to employ people…the passage of this bill will give us the money we need to operate,” she said.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at the Plum Bistro!

Thanks for reading!

Doug

Did you hear what Dino said?

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 by Jeff Bjornstad, Campaign Manager

Did you hear what Dino Rossi said yesterday?100k-email-callout-eoq

Instead of standing up for Washington state Boeing workers as Senator Patty Murray has always done, Dino said that the illegal, job-killing EU subsidies given to Airbus should not be taken into account in awarding the next Air Force tanker contract.

It’s incredible — yet just another example of how Patty Murray is fighting for the hard-working people of Washington state, while Dino Rossi is fighting for his special interest pals.

But we need your help to keep Patty Murray in the Senate.

So today we’re launching a $100,000 grassroots fundraising drive before the September 30 end-of-quarter deadline — and we need your help to reach it.

Please contribute to Patty’s campaign now — and help us reach our ambitious $100,000 grassroots goal before the September 30 end-of-quarter deadline!

Patty Murray has fought for years to make sure Washington state’s Boeing workers are given a fair shake in competing for the tanker contract. Patty knows that our workers can compete against anyone on a level playing field — but they have to have that shot. That’s why she has always stood up for our workers, and that’s what she’ll always do.

But we can’t take this election for granted. The polls show a very tight race that’s going to come down to the wire.

We need to keep Patty Murray fighting for you, me, and all Washington state families in the U.S. Senate. And that’s why we need your help, today.

Please contribute to Patty’s campaign now — and help us reach our ambitious $100,000 grassroots goal before midnight September 30!

Our September 30 end-of-quarter finance report will be one of the last chances for the press and pundits to gauge the strength of our campaign — and to stack us up against Dino Rossi.

As we barrel into the homestretch of this election, we need to make sure we keep the momentum — and posting strong fundraising numbers on September 30 is going to be critical.

You and I know that Patty Murray has the strong grassroots support she needs to win in November. Now let’s prove it.

Please contribute to Patty’s campaign now!

Thank you for standing strong with Patty!

Sincerely,

Jeff Bjornstad

New myPatty video: “No Issue Too Small”

Friday, September 10th, 2010 by Doug Foote, New Media Director

Our newest myPatty video features two longtime Washington educators, Vince and Judy. They’ve worked in administration, taught students, and dealt with all the pressing issues our educators face, from No Child Left Behind to state budget cuts.

And for them, the choice is clear: they want to send Patty Murray back to DC to fight for them in the U.S. Senate:

Vince, who has worked with many public officials as an administrator, shared that Patty is one of the most effective he has encountered. And Judy, a recently retired middle school teacher, told us she first heard about Patty’s effectiveness when she was the President of the Shoreline School Board – and that she has taken that fierce work ethic to the U.S. Senate.

Check out our myPatty page for videos and testimonials from Patty supporters all over Washington state.

Labor Day – getting America back to work

Monday, September 6th, 2010 by Senator Patty Murray

(Read this as a Note on Facebook)

This Labor Day, as communities celebrate with parades, picnics, and spending time with family and friends, I will not forget the Washington workers who continue to struggle in this economy.

I truly believe our state has the best workers in the world – from the wheat farmers on the Palouse to the machinists in Everett. Through no fault of their own, too many have lost jobs and savings, and I will continue to work tirelessly to get our economy back on its feet.

  • I was proud to pass Wall Street reform legislation that will ensure that taxpayers will never again pay the price for Wall Street’s recklessness.
  • I will continue to fight for the Veterans Employment Act, which will help our returning soldiers contribute their unique skills to our workforce.
  • And as soon as I return to DC, I will resume the push for the bipartisan-supported Small Business Lending fund, which will spur hiring and growth for out state’s small businesses.

As I’ve said before, this state is my family – and when Washington state families are hurting, you bet I’m going to do everything I can to get us back on track.

Thank you for all you do, and have a wonderful Labor Day!

Best,

Patty

Two months left

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 by Jeff Bjornstad, Campaign Manager

(Read this as a Note on Facebook)

Today is September 2nd – only two months until Election Day.

The stakes are high in this election, and the choices are clear. We can send Patty back to keep fighting for Washington state in our nation’s capital and keep our country moving forward, or we can return to the failed policies that brought our economy to its knees.

Here are just a few of the things you can do to help our campaign in the next 60 days:

  • Volunteer – We’ll be having phone banks and canvasses all across the state. Please sign up today and we’ll get in touch with you about how you can walk and and talk for Patty.

Thanks everyone, let’s make these next 60 days count!

Jeff
